How To Inspire Others
I was once introduced to a Youtube video that really inspired me. It was the last lecture given by Randy Pausch, called Achieving Your Childhood Dreams. Pausch was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was told he had 3 to 6 months of good health left to live. He had a wife and two very young children (under the ages of 6) that he would be leaving behind. He wanted to leave something for his children to remember him by. Pausch died of complications from pancreatic cancer on July 25, 2008.
I am not going to write about Pausch’s lecture because nothing I could write could compare to reading his New York Times Best Seller or the power of watching his lecture, Achieving Your Childhood Dreams. Instead, I want to share with you what I believe someone could do in life that could give inspiration to others that could be long remembered.
First, it starts with identifying your gifts. I blogged about this in another post titled, How To Find Your True Passion. Everyone has gifts. Some gifts you were born with, others you had to work for. Write them down so that you can see them in front of you.
Second, imagine what you could do or be with these gifts. What makes you the happiest? Do some real soul searching to find out what makes you the happiest. I was inspired to write a post titled, A Beautiful Future to share with the world what I envisioned to be my “beautiful future.”
Third, believe in your vision of a “beautiful future.” Believe it with all of your heart. Most of all, believe in yourself.
Fourth, work really hard to fulfill this vision. Get inspired by reading and imagining your vivid description of a beautiful future (daily). Take the proper steps to plan, do and monitor your progress. I use tips from David Allen’s books, Getting Things Done and Making it all work to help guide me. Read more about Realizing Your Vision.
I truly believe that everyone can inspire others and make a difference in someone’s life. I tell others that doing it is half the battle, getting started is the other half. Take the steps to get started and you will be on your path to inspire others.
Thank you for taking the time to read what I am able to share.
If this post has inspired you, please leave a comment. How would you inspire others?

Check out what others are saying...[...] Instead, think of pursuing greatness as doing something that will inspire others to want to live as you did. It does not mean that they do what you do or pursue the same dreams you did. Instead, they should be inspired by the way you went about pursuing your achievements and overcoming your obstacles. Sometimes, pursuing greatness comes with a price. Sometimes it is making sacrifices and working harder than anyone else. Other times, it is enduring hardships and disappointments. Sometimes, it requires selflessness and making the ultimate sacrifices that may cost lives. To me, pursing greatness is simply how you live your life that inspires others.
